I don’t have to go far for some woodsy Columbia Gorge engagement photos. This spot is literally 5 minutes away from home outside of Stevenson, WA. Our couple Kris and Chase flew all the way over from North Carolina to tour the Northwest. They eloped not too long ago, but never had professional wedding photos done. I agreed, the Northwest is a great place for couple’s pictures. I then recommended the Columbia Gorge. I have photographed couples in the Gorge for 15 years and there are always new locations I discover. Kris and Chase were pleasantly surprised with the natural beauty of the Columbia Gorge. As soon as they drove out of Portland, they knew their engagement session in the Columbia Gorge was a good idea. It’s middle of the summer. We had to wait till the late evening for best light. This is just days after summer solstice. I was well worth the wait. The skies lit up over the river. We had an amazing sunset in front of us. Behind us we had some miniature oaks, rocks and cool grass. the view of the river, Wind Mountain and Dog Mountain is spectacular. No crowds tourist crowds, no city chaos, just stunning image of the river. we had two hours to accomplish what we came here for. We had fun photo shoot, and before the sun left us I was able to capture hundreds of truly special moments. Columbia Gorge engagement photos can be fun, but the conditions were just perfect for Kris and Chase. There is so much beauty between Hood River and Portland.
